MERA PURE Sensitive | Rice-based Range
MERA PURE Sensitive Turkey & Rice Dog Food
For dogs with food sensitivities, allergies, or intolerances – particularly those who react to common proteins like chicken or beef – MERA PURE Sensitive Turkey & Rice offers a clean, limited ingredient diet built around a single lean protein and easily digestible rice. No wheat. No gluten. No unnecessary additives. Just what your dog needs, and nothing they don’t.
WHY TURKEY?
A novel protein most dogs haven’t been exposed to
Turkey is one of the most commonly recommended proteins for elimination diets because most dogs have no prior exposure to it – making it far less likely to trigger an existing allergic response compared to chicken or beef.
WHY RICE?
Gentle, digestible carbohydrate for sensitive stomachs
Rice is one of the most easily digested carbohydrates available in dog nutrition. Free from wheat and gluten, it provides steady energy without the digestive burden that grains like wheat or corn can cause in sensitive dogs.

September 27, 2026 I have a wired hair terrier and I first thought the pellets are going to be too big for her, but they are a good size and she is loving the herring!!
Still just in the process of slowly phasing out the old food still but glad I made the switch.

August 4, 2026 One of my dogs suffers from severe allergies and reacts to almost everything, but this food is an absolute game-changer. Both of my dogs took to it with the very first bowl, and it contains none of his triggers. It is a massive relief to find a clean, safe kibble that keeps his allergy flare-ups at bay.

August 13, 2024 My cats have been on Mera Classic for years so when I got my chow x puppy, Siya, I worked with the team to try this as chow-chows are often allergic to chicken and get hot-spots etc as a result.
Siya is THRIVING on this food - she has grown, the quality of her fur is SO much better and the hot spot areas have started to regrow hair. She is so full of life and loves adventuring with me.MERA PURE Sensitive Junior Turkey & Rice Dog Food

November 23, 2023 My puppy loves this food. And yes, pups eat anything, but not only does the puppy love it, but my older dog also tries to eat the pup's food (and that's unusual). And I also have to keep the cat from eating it. So it is well received and obviously really enjoyable. I also use the pellets for treats when going out. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ’S)
Is MERA PURE Sensitive Turkey & Rice suitable for dogs with chicken allergies?
Yes. The Turkey & Rice range contains no chicken protein and the poultry fat has been purified – meaning the dogs immune system does not recognise it as chicken. Turkey is widely recommended as a novel protein for dogs suspected of having a chicken allergy, as most dogs have not been previously exposed to it – significantly reducing the likelihood of a reaction.
What is the best hypoallergenic puppy food for a dog with a sensitive stomach?
The PURE Sensitive Turkey & Rice Puppy recipe is developed specifically for puppies showing signs of food sensitivity. It uses turkey as a single lean protein with easily digestible rice – no wheat, no gluten, no artificial additives. It’s one of the few hypoallergenic puppy foods available in South Africa with a full limited ingredient diet formulation.
Can my dog eat MERA PURE Sensitive treats alongside the main food?
Yes – the PURE Sensitive Goody Snacks are formulated with the same limited ingredient philosophy as the main range. Giving your dog treats that don’t align with their elimination diet can undermine the entire dietary protocol, so using snacks from the same LID range is strongly recommended.
Is rice safe for dogs with sensitive stomachs?
Yes. Rice is one of the most easily tolerated carbohydrates in canine nutrition. It is naturally free from gluten and wheat, and is routinely recommended by veterinarians for dogs with digestive sensitivities or those recovering from gastrointestinal upset. If your dog has a specific grain sensitivity – rather than just a wheat or gluten intolerance – see our grain-free range.
